Why do we exist?

Body//Talk is a social enterprise devoted to using events to build a thriving new community in Orlando. We believe events can be powerful generators for community, belonging, and the lasting relationships that ultimately shape our lives.

We want to see people thrive.

To make meaningful connections.

To dance like no one’s watching.

To practice slowing down.

To make time for play.

To stand up for what’s right.

To grow better with the support of a community.

Right now, our main program is hosting monthly Body//Talk Parties in The Milk District. The events are all about bringing great people together in a low-key festival atmosphere. We think the perfect combination of dancing, catching up, and meeting new people is a killer way to spend a Saturday. And it’s the primary way we’ve built up our culture over these last 3 years.

And we’ve got some cool accolades, too – like winning Orlando’s Best Underground Dance Party and creating a TEDx Talk explaining our why. This might all sound like some lofty mumbo-jumbo, but we’re just a group of friends who care about creating a better world with the tools we have… and our roots are in the underground, so you know we can throw a party.

1. Community

A thriving local community is a rare and precious thing in the modern world. It’s an upward spiral of trust, support, kindness, and belonging – and we believe it’s essential to living a good life. That’s why we’re dedicated to growing, nurturing, and empowering the ever-evolving community created through our events.

2. Radical Self Expression

We encourage you to express yourself at Body//Talk and to inspire others with the open pursuit of your own aesthetic. We aim to create an environment where you can let your guard down and be your authentic self. A safe space for people of all genders, orientations, and identities. We want to see you laugh, dance, and flow on full volume.

3. Social Connectivity

Human beings have deep needs for connection, acknowledgement, and belonging. We see Body//Talk as a real life social network—a place where the conditions are set up for meaningful connections to happen. That’s why we design our spaces to be conducive to conversation, intimacy, and spontaneous connection. You may meet your next best friend here.

4. Musical Transcendence

We revere the transformative power of music. That’s why we work hard to bring together the necessary elements that make for a transcendent night: an immersive environment, a powerful performance, and a phenomenal dance-floor. We aim to create music experiences that take you to incredible new heights.

5. Quality of Experience

As a creative team, we’re committed to holding each other to a high standard of quality and practicing nonviolent communication to get there. We don’t engage in strategic back-scratching, and we don’t give preferential treatment to our friends. Our stamp is our word, and we don’t use it lightly.

6. Emotional Sustainability

Nightlife can foster bad habits that lead to an unhealthy lifestyle. We strive to create events that nourish the body, inspire the mind, and promote wellness. We believe that music events should be an emotionally sustainable part of life—even as you age and mature.

To live well is to have great relationships, but mobility culture, urban sprawl, and our technological habits don’t always make that easy. But what if parties could evolve into powerful generators for community, belonging, and lasting connections?

This talk calls on event organizers to use 7 principles to organize events so that they satisfy human beings’ deep need for connection.

We are eternally indebted to the trail-blazing people and organizations who have inspired us to re-think what’s possible. This is just a short list:
